Libya denounces the resumption of Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip in Palestine

Tripoli, Libya (PANA) - The Libyan Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Government of National Unity has condemned in the strongest possible terms attacks launched by the Israeli occupying forces against the Gaza Strip, which resulted in numerous martyrs and injuries among the Palestinian people.

It descried these attacks a ‘flagrant violation’ of international and humanitarian law and a clear breach of the recently concluded ceasefire agreement.

In a statement published on its Facebook page on Tuesday, the Libyan Ministry of Foreign Affairs offered its sincere condolences to the families of the martyrs as a result of the new Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip, and wished a speedy recovery for the injured.

The Ministry reiterated its categorical rejection of these repeated attacks, calling for urgent and decisive action to protect the Palestinian people from these ongoing crimes and violations and to ensure that those responsible are held to account.

He explained that the repeated attacks on the Gaza Strip ‘represent a continuation of the occupation's policies of murder, displacement and annihilation of the legitimate rights’ of the Palestinians.

It called on the international community and active international organizations to take all necessary measures to protect lives and holy places from the ongoing aggression and violations of international humanitarian law and human rights committed by the Zionist entity.

In this respect, the Libyan Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation reiterated “Libya's firm position of solidarity with the just Palestinian cause, as well as its absolute solidarity and permanent support for the brotherly Palestinian people in their legitimate struggle to obtain their inalienable rights”.

Since Monday evening, the Israeli army has resumed its air strikes on the Gaza Strip, killing 404 people and injuring more than 500, according to a report by the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza.

The resumption of Israeli bombardments on Gaza, which marks a new escalation of violence following a period of relative calm, is a source of major concern for the civilian population because of the humanitarian consequences and their aggravation.
