Tripoli, Libya (PANA) - The Libya Africa Investment Portfolio has held a meeting at in Tripoli with the President and members of the Planning and Coordination Agency of the New Partnership for Africa’s Development (AUDA-NEPAD) of the African Union Commission (AUC).
In attendance were members of the five-year committee of the Economic, Social and Cultural Council of the African Union (ECOSOCC).
The meeting saw a presentation on its most important strategic projects, notably the Libya Transit Corridors Project-Africa, which connects the ports of Misrata and Benghazi to the heart of Africa.
A statement said the meeting reviewed the objectives of the project, which aims to create a strategic gateway for southern African countries to European markets, strengthen the logistical role of Libya and stimulate economic, commercial, human and territorial development.
This project supports regional integration and benefits Libya and the populations of the continent, said the statement.
The meeting was also presented with an overview of actions taken by the Joint High Committee, responsible for planning, supervising and monitoring the implementation of the project.
The participants welcomed the project and its major strategic importance, and affirmed their full support for its implementation.
They also confirmed that the project would be integrated into the Programme for Infrastructure Development in Africa (PIDA), which includes 69 key projects that the AUC intends to carry out.
