Nouakchott, Mauritania (PANA) – The Japanese government will host the fifth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD) from 1 to 3 June in Yokohama, the Japanese Embassy in Mauritania disclosed here Wednesday.

The meeting is jointly organized by the African Union Commission, the UN Office for African Affairs, the United Nations Development Programme and the World Bank.

TICAD is a high-profile platform initiated in 1993 by the Japanese government to promote a political dialogue between African leaders and their partners in a bid to take up Africa’s economic challenges.
