President of Libyan Council attends 16th Summit of Heads of State and Government of LCBC in Nigeria

Tripoli, Libya (PANA) - The chairman of the Libyan Presidential Council, Mohamed al-Manfi, arrived in Nigeria on Monday evening to attend the 16th Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Lake Chad Basin Commission (LCBC).

Leaders of the sub-regional gathering will discuss the contribution to the smooth functioning of the Commission as well as the security situation in the Lake Chad Basin.

Also included on he agenda are the 2022 activity report, 2023 work programme and budget and audit reports of the LCBC, as well as the security challenges facing the region, particularly the activities of the terrorist organization, Boko Haram, which has been on the rise in recent months.

The Lake Chad Basin Commission (LCBC) was created on 22 May 1964 by the four countries bordering Lake Chad - Cameroon, Niger, Nigeria and Chad.

The Central African Republic joined the organization in 1996 and Libya was admitted in 2008. The Commission's headquarters are in N'Djamena, Chad.
