Mohamed Al-Manfi participates in Ukrainian President's briefing to AU Chair

Tripoli, Libya (PANA) - The chairman of the Libyan Presidential Council, Mohamed Al-Manfi, in his capacity as deputy chairman of the African Union (AU), participated in a meeting via video technology on Monday devoted to listening to a briefing by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on the Ukrainian-Russian crisis.

A statement from the press office of the Libyan Presidential Council said the meeting was held in implementation of the results of the meeting of the African Union chairmanship held on 10 May.

The meeting authorized Senegalese President Macky Sall, in his capacity as current chairperson of the African Union, to visit Russia, accompanied by the chairman of the African Union Commission, Moussa Faki, on 3 June.

During their visit to Moscow, Mr. Sall and Mr. Faki met with Russian President Vladimir Putin to whom they presented the official view of the African Union on the impact of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine on the African continent.

They also discussed with Putin ways of opening the way to the stocks of cereals and fertilizers that the countries of the continent import from Moscow, amid fears of a global food crisis.
