Mandela's grand daughter reveals she was raped

Cape Town, South Africa (PANA) – Less than a week after South Africa’s top football administrator was accused of rape, Nelson Mandela’s eldest grand daughter says she was also raped.

As previously reported by PANA, South Africa Football Association President Dr Danny Jordaan who is widely credited with securing the rights to host the 2010 World Cup, has been accused of raping popular singer and politician Jennifer Ferguson 24 years ago. He has refused to respond to the allegations.

Like Ferguson, Ndileka Mandela used Facebook to reveal her ordeal which she said occurred five years ago when her former boyfriend raped her in Johannesburg. She did not name him.

She said she had learned from her grandfather who was prepared to publicly announce that his son Makgatho died from an AIDS-related illness.

Ndileka Mandela is a qualified nurse who runs a Mandela family foundation to uplift the rural poor.

Earlier this year, she said she will no longer vote for South Africa’s ruling African National Congress, claiming the party no longer held the values that her grandfather had fought for.
