Malians mobilize against ECOWAS sanction on Junta

Bamako, Mali (PANA) - Malians will Friday hold a huge meeting in Bamako, the Malian capital, to condemn the sanctions imposed by the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) against Mali.

Reports say that the meeting will take place at the Independence Square in Bamako, was called by the government.

According to the organisers, several political, civil society and religious figures will speak to condemn the sanctions and pledge the people's support to the transitional authorities, led by the Head of State, Col. Assimi Goita, and Prime Minister, Choguel Kokalla Maiga.

This meeting will also be marked by a national prayer which will be led by Imam Oumarou Diarra.

According to the programme, Prime Minister Maïga will, in principle, read the final declaration at the Place de l'Indépendance, the organisers said.

A call was also made to all religious leaders to pray for Mali on Friday in all mosques across the country.
