Libya: National Unity govt. celebrates first-ever Libyan Women's Day

Tripoli, Libya (PANA) - The first-ever celebration of the Women's Day in Libyan, under the slogan "My right", was held on Wednesday evening in Tripoli, under the auspices of the State Ministry of Women's Affairs of the National Unity Government.

The ceremony to celebrate the Day was attended by the government's Deputy Prime Minister, Ramadan Abu Janah, members of the House of Representatives (Parliament) and the High State Council, a number of ministers and officials, representatives of the Women's Union, the National Reconciliation Rally, directors of women's empowerment departments in the municipalities and a group of artists and civil society activists.

The celebration featured speeches by participating officials, who praised the role of Libyan women in the society and the achievements they have made since the founding of the state to this point.

The National Libyan Women's Day was established by decree on March 19 by Libyan Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity Abdelhamid Al-Dbaiba, declaring April 26 of each year as Libyan Women's Day.
