HIV testing and treatment now free in Burkina Faso

Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso (PANA) - The screening, treatment and biological monitoring of people living with HIV (PLHIV) are now free in Burkina Faso, according to a decree published on Wednesday.

It extends free antiretroviral treatment to other services for PLHIV.

The measure also aims to strengthen measures already taken by Burkina Faso in the field of medical care for PLHIV, through equitable access to the care package.

The adoption of this decree will enable the country to improve HIV infection indicators to eliminate AIDS by 2030. This is in accordance with the new benchmark of the National Council for the Fight against AIDS and Sexually Transmitted Infections (CNLS-IST).
