Gambia’s Coach, Tom Saintfiet, names 28-man squad for maiden Afcon tournament

Banjul, Gambia (PANA) - Gambia's Belgian coach, Tom Saintfiet, on Tuesday announced his final 28-man squad for Gambia’s maiden AFCON tournament which gets underway next month in Cameroon.

The 28-man squad is as follows -

Goalkeepers - Baboucarr Gaye, Sheikh Sibi and Modou Jobe.

Defenders - Pa Modou Jagne, Omar Colley, James Gomez, Noah Sonko Sundberg, Buba Sanneh, Ibou Touray and Saidy Janko.

Midfielders - Muhammed Mbye, Ebrima Sohna, Dawda Ngum, Sulayman Marreh, Ebrima Darboe, Yusupha Bobb, Ebou Adams, Musa Barrow, Ablie Jallow and Bubacarr ‘Steve’ Trawally.

Strikers - Ebrima Colley, Lamin Jallow, Buba Jobe, Assan Ceesay, Muhammed Badamosi, Modou Barrow, Dembo Darboe and Yusupha Njie.

The team will leave on Monday, Dec. 27 2021, for Qatar for a pre-tournament camp that begins next week.

There will be two test matches for the Scorpions against the reigning Afcon title holders, Algeria, and Syria on 1st and 5th January 2022 respectively, with both matches to be played in Doha.

The Scorpions will then fly to Cameroon on 7th January, 2022.
