Founding committee of African Investment Bank holds first meeting

Tripoli, Libya (PANA) - The founding committee of the African Investment Bank held its first meeting on Thursday at the Office of the Libyan Prime Minister in Tripoli.

The meeting was chaired by the adviser to the Governor of the Central Bank of Libya (CBL), Mustapha Al-Manaa, who stressed that the committee is not a board of directors or executive board.

He said its objective is to set the general protocol and the proposed organisational chart, and to follow up on the African Union's 2009 decision on the establishment of the African Investment Bank, whose headquarters will be hosted by Libya.

According to a statement by the Government of National Unity (GNU), the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Sahel-Saharan Bank and Vice-Chairman of the Committee, Ahmed Omar, reviewed the proposed organisational structure, logo and notes to be presented at the next meeting of the African Union.

The Libyan Prime Minister of the GNU promulgated a decree to form the founding committee of the Bank, which was charged with preparing its general administrative and technical vision, which would allow Libya to activate this file at the meetings of the African Union.
