DR Congo to host 9th Francophonie Games

Dakar, Senegal (PANA) - The Ninth La Francophonie Games will take place in Kinshasa, the capital of DR Congo, from 19 to 28 August, 2022.

Initially scheduled from 23 July to 1 August, 2021, this sporting and cultural meeting was postponed by one year because it coincided with the Tokyo Olympic Games which were scheduled in July-August 2020, but which have been postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic to 23 July to 8 August, 2021.

The meeting of the extraordinary session, last Wednesday of the Orientation Council of the International Committee of the La Francophonie Games, under the presidency of Canada, accepted the requests for postponement presented by the Congolese authorities.

DR Congo was asked to continue its preparations in order to meet the deadlines required and to guarantee that the Games will be held on the new dates.
