Congo, WB to implement joint strategy to fight unemployment

Brazzaville, Congo (PANA) - The World Bank (WB) and Congo have agreed to implement a joint policy aimed at generating jobs and inclusive economic growth in the non-oil sector, the stakeholders announced in Brazzaville on Tuesday.

This policy is part of the preparatory work of the second generation Poverty Reduction Strategy Paper (PRSP).

To enable economic and social actors carry out this strategy, an exchange workshop focusing on the issue was held on Monday in the Congolese capital.

The exchange will give participants the ability to analyse sources of growth in the Congo.

This new vision results from an observation that the issue of employment is among the challenges to be tackled in order to promote social stability and economic development.

Unemployment among the youth is estimated at 25%.

"This must be the concern of authorities, as we know that Congo has reached levels of economic growth that are among the highest in the continent," the stakeholders said
