Libyan officials stress holding of inclusive conference on reconciliation in the country
Tripoli, Libya (PANA) - The two deputy chairmen of the Libyan Presidential Council, Moussa Al-Kouni and Abdallah Al-Lafi, have reiterated the need to hold the inclusive national reconciliation conference in one of the cities in the country to complete the work on reconciliation.
This was at a meeting on Wednesday in Tripoli between Mr Al-Kouni and Mr Al-Lafi, with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Francophonie and Congolese Abroad, Jean-Claude Gakosso, and the African Union's adviser on national reconciliation, Mohamed Hassan Labat.
The meeting discussed developments in the national reconciliation dossier and preparations for the inclusive conference, according to a statement from the Presidential Council.
It said the Congolese Minister congratulated the two vice-presidents on the occasion of the month of Ramadan, hoping that this month will be an opportunity for reconciliation and tolerance between Libyans.
Mr Gakosso also conveyed the greetings of the President of the Republic of Congo, Chairman of the African Union's High-Level Committee on Libya, Denis Sassou Nguesso, and the Chairman of the African Union Commission, Moussa Faki, to the members of the Presidential Council and their willingness to continue working on the reconciliation dossier to finalise the remaining arrangements to hold the conference successfully.
Mr Al-Koni stressed the need to hold the inclusive reconciliation conference without delay, and the need to continue working on the reconciliation issue.
An inclusive conference is scheduled for next April in Sirte to finalise the national reconciliation project overseen by the Presidential Council with the support of the AU.
