Libya participates in AU Executive Council meetings in Addis Ababa
Tripoli, Libya (PANA) - For the second day running, the Libyan delegation led by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Mohamed Issa, took part in the activities of the Executive Council of the African Union (AU).
The Council will discuss the mechanism for the Union's participation in the G20 meetings and the monitoring of the rules relating to elections to senior posts within the AU Commission.
The Executive Council meetings also examined the efforts of the African Peace Fund and the modernization of its mechanisms and structures, according to a statement issued on Saturday by the Libyan Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The participating Libyan delegation, led by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Mohamed Issa, spoke of the importance of legal agreements to meet the aspirations of the African peoples to facilitate the work of the African Union institutions.
On the sidelines of the session, the Libyan official met the Ethiopian Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Misganu Arga, to discuss a number of bilateral issues and ways of strengthening them.
They also exchanged views on areas of interest to the two countries and coordinated their common positions within the African Union.
A tripartite meeting was also held, attended by the Libyan Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs, the Moroccan Foreign Minister, Nasser Bourita, and the Mauritanian Foreign Minister, Mohamed Salem Ould Merzoug, to discuss the coordination of positions on common continental and regional issues.
