Tripoli, Libya (PANA) - An air transport agreement was signed on Sunday between Libya and Italy.
The two countries also signed a memorandum of technical cooperation between their civil aviation institutions, which will help to increase the efficiency and capacity of Libya's civil aviation.
The air transport agreement was signed at the headquarters of the Libyan Ministry of Transport in Tripoli.
A statement from the Libyan Civil Aviation Authority said that the agreement will open up new horizons towards the return of air traffic with the countries of the European Union and will enable Libyan airlines to re-establish their presence on the European markets.
The means of developing bilateral relations between the two parties in air transport and increasing the number of flights and air operators were also discussed, the statement stated.
After a 10-year interruption following the imposition by the European Union of an air embargo on Libya, the Italian airline, ITA, carried out its first flight from Rome in July, with Libyan Prime Minister Abdulhamid Al Dbaiba on board.
