Tripoli, Libya (PANA) - The Li,byan ground services company has signed a contract to provide ground and handling services to the Egyptian company, Air Cairo, official sources told PANA here Friday.
The contract was initialed on behalf of the Libyan company by the general manager, Fathi Al-Daloub, and on behalf of the Egyptian company, Air Cairo, by the director of the company, Amir Fahmy, during a ceremony here on Thursday, announced a statement by the Libyan Ministry of Communications of the Government of National Unity, and reported by the Libyan newspaper "Al-Wasat".
The same source added that Mr. Daloub and Mr. Fahmy discussed, on the sidelines of the contract signing, the expansion of the activity and the strengthening of the joint cooperation agreement between the Libyan ground services company and Air Cairo.
This step comes as a prelude to Air Cairo's intention to operate its flights to Libya, which will be the second Egyptian airline operator to serve Libya after EgyptAir.
Air Cairo is an Egyptian low-cost airline that operates scheduled flights to the Middle East and Europe, and also operates charter flights to Egypt from Europe on behalf of tour operators.
The airline operates more than 200 weekly flights to 50 international and domestic destinations with a fleet of 19 aircraft, according to the airline's website.
