President of Libyan Council insists on inclusive reconciliation project
Tripoli, Libya (PANA) - The chairman of the Libyan Presidential Council, Mohamed al-Manfi, has stressed that reconciliation is a national project for all.
Mr. al-Manfi added that reconciliation, as a long-term project, requires the achievement of a comprehensive consensus between the various components of the society around a national plan for an integrated historical settlement, according to a press release from the Press Office of the chairman of the Presidential Council.
He was speaking at a meeting on Thursday in Tripoli with the Congolese Minister of Foreign Affairs, Francophonie and Congolese Abroad, Jean-Claude Gakosso.
The Congolese Minister of Foreign Affairs informed the chairman of the latest developments in the national reconciliation dossier and the specific preparations for the inclusive conference.
An inclusive conference is scheduled for next April in Syrte to finalise the national reconciliation project overseen by the Presidential Council with the support of the African Union (AU).
Earlier, al-Taher al-Baour, head of work management at the Libyan Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, discussed with the Congolese Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jean-Claude Gakosso, the efforts being made to support the national reconciliation dossier.
Through the High-Level Committee of Heads of State and Government of the African Union on Libya, chaired by the Congo, the AU is providing support for the national reconciliation project.
It is also playing a role in creating the conditions for its success by providing technical support and advice to help Libyans implement this national project.
