Cote d'Ivoire: UN to demonstrate in Addis Ababa reality of Ouattara's victory

Addis Ababa, Ethiopia (PANA) - The representative of the UN Secretary General for Cote d’Ivoire, Young Ji Choi, arrived in Addis Ababa with the results of the second round of the Ivorian presidential election to prove to the heads of state and government of the member countries of the African Union (AU) that the vote was well won by Alassane Ouattara, a reliable source told PANA, here.

Choi brought the gross results region by region, some charts analysing these results and the reports of international observers on the holding of the elections, according to the source.

"He has already met a South African official, to whom he presented the detailed results of the second round and he asked him to transmit all the evidence of Mr. Ouattara’s victory to his government. It is anticipated that Mr. Choi does the same with other African leaders present at the 16th Summit (of the AU)," the source added.

For his mission at the 16th AU Summit, Choi received the reinforcement of the deputy secretary general of the UN for peacekeeping, Alain Le Roy, who has been staying in Addis Ababa for some days.

The UN operation in Cote d’Ivoire (ONUCI) has certified the results of the second round of the Ivorian presidential election, declaring Ouattara winner of the vote, with 54.1 per cent, against the outgoing President, Laurent Gbagbo.
