Kenya: Wanyama called up for match against Mauritius

Nairobi, Kenya (PANA) - England-based Victor Wanyama is among the nine foreign-based players called to the Kenyan national team that will face Mauritius away in a 2018 Africa Cup of Nations Group E qualifier on 7 October.

Wanyama plays for Southampton in the English Premiership League (EPL).

Other foreign-based Kenyan players called up to the senior national team, Harambee Stars, by coach Bob Williamson are goalkeeper Arnold Origi (Lillestrom, Norway), defenders David Owino (Zesco United, Zambia) and Brian Mandela (Maritzburg, South Africa).

Also called up are midfielders Teddy Akumu (Al Khartoum, Sudan), Ayub Timbe (LSK Lierse, Belgium), Johanna Omollo (Royal Antwerp, Belgium), strikers Jacob Keli (Nkana Red Devils, Zambia) and Allan Wanga (Azam, Tanzania).

Others are home-based players - goalkeeper Boniface Oluoch (Gor Mahia),

Defenders - David Ochieng (unattached), Edwin Wafula afc leopards.

Midfilders - Bernard Mangoli, Peter Nzuki (Nakumatt), Kevin Amwayi (Ulinzi), Johanne Omollo (Mathare United), Abdul Latif (Bandari) and Michael Olunga.

Kenya and Congo drew 1-1 in their group qualifier in Brazzaville earlier in the year before succumbing 0-2 to Zambia in Nairobi on 6 September.

Zambia and Guinea Bissau drew 0-0 in an earlier match.

Congo leads the group with 4 points, Zambia are second with 4, Kenya and Gunea Bissau are third and fourth respectively with one point apiece.
