Port-Louis, Mauritius (PANA) – The spokesperson of the National Communication Committee on COVID-19 (coronavirus), Dr Zouberr Joomaye, said on Sunday night that the government "is prepared" to face a second wave of the pandemic should it hit the country.
Speaking on the national television, Dr Joomaye indicated that the number of deaths from the COVID-19 stands at nine since the outbreak of the disease in early March 2020.
He said 208 patients have been treated, the number of active cases stands at 108, the number of people comprising passengers and medical staff in quarantine stands at 259 people, while 10,894 tests have been conducted.
He appealed to the population to remain vigilant and continue taking sanitary measures.
