UNSMIL begins workshop on code of conduct for military and security institutions

Tripoli, Libya (PANA) - The Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Political Affairs and Acting Head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), Stephanie Khoury, has opened a workshop to discuss a common code of conduct between military institutions and security actors across the country.

On Thursday, the Deputy Special Representative stated on her account on the X platform during the two-day workshop held in Tunisia that she welcomed the efforts made to draw up and adopt a code of conduct "as it will help to improve stability and security, strengthen the protection of civilians and respect for human rights in Libya".

On the sidelines of the workshop organized by UNSMIL on the code of conduct for military and security institutions and bodies, the Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Political Affairs and Acting Head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya, Stephanie Khoury, met the members of the 5+5 Joint Military Committee in Tunisia.

She said she welcomed the efforts of the committee members to strengthen the security aspect and support the ceasefire agreement signed in October 2020.

The UN official also reaffirmed the commitment of the United Nations to continuously support the security and stability of Libya.
