Tunisia: President Essebsi on two-day working visit to Algeria

Tunis, Tunisia (PANA) – Tunisian President Béji Caïd Essebsi on Wednesday begins a two-day visit to Algeria where he will discuss a number of issues on bilateral relations with his host, President Abdelaziz Bouteflika, it was officially announced here Tuesday.

Issues related to political, economic and trade cooperation as well as security, particularly the fight against terrorism, are expected to be at the centre of their talks.

The crisis in Libya will also be on their agenda as leaders of Libya’s neighbouring countries backing the ongoing efforts to find a lasting solution to the crisis.

A communiqué issued Tuesday by the presidency of Algeria said the visit would be the opportunity for the two presidents to look into ways and means for strengthening the ties of historic solidarity between the Tunisian and Algerian peoples.

"The visit will also enable the continuation of coordination between Algeria and Tunisia on issues of common interest, particularly within the Arab Maghreb Union, the Sahel and the Arab nation," the communiqué added.
