Pretoria, South Africa (PANA) South Africa’s maize area is forecast to expand in marketing year 2024/25 after an 18 percent drop in the maize crop of marketing year 2023/24, due to an El Niño-induced mid-summer drought, prompted higher local maize prices that will initiate expansion in the area to be planted for marketing year 2024/25
