South Africa: Bill Gates salutes South African comedian

Cape Town, South Africa (PANA) – Billionaire Bill Gates has saluted South Africa’s top television personality Trevor Noah’s biographical book which has been released around the world.

Noah is the host of The Daily Show, a satirical news programme broadcast from New York with millions of viewers.

His biography 'Born a Crime' recounts how he grew up as a mixed race child in Soweto during the Apartheid era. His mother is black and his father, Robert, is white and of Swiss German ethnicity. His parents' relationship was illegal at the time of his birth under apartheid and his mother was jailed and fined by the South African white minority government.

Microsoft founder, Bill Gates, issued a tweet saying Noah’s “comedy is so universal that it has the power to transcend borders” and the book taught him that “Noah’s outsider approach has been honed over a lifetime of never quite fitting in”.
