Cameroon: Asphalted road to connect Cameroon to Brazzaville Congo

Brazzaville, Congo (PANA) - A 215 km road connecting the city of Djoum in southern Cameroon to the Congo border is progressing smoothly with 69% completed, the local press in Brazzaville reported on Wednesday.

The road is divided into three sub-sections - Djoum-Mintom; Mintom-Lele; Lele-Mbalam-Congolese border. It is an integral part of a project to connect Sangmélima in Cameroon and Ouesso in Congo.

The project is estimated at CFAF119.8 billion being mobilized with the help of several donors such as Arab Bank for the Economic Development of Africa, Islamic Development Bank, African Development Bank, the Saudi Development Fund and the Kuwait Fund.

When completed the road will increase trade between the two countries while facilitating the movement of people and goods and ensuring better access for the population to social, health and administrative services, which are crucial in the fight against poverty and rural exodus.
