Board of Directors of ASECA meet

Dakar, Senegal (PANA) - The 119th meeting of the board of directors of the Agency for the Security of Air Navigation in Africa and Madagascar (ASECNA) opened in Dakar on Thursday with the examination of the 2009 financial statement high on the agenda.

The chairman of the board of directors of ASECNA, Jacques Courbin, said the two-day meeting would also approve of the 2011 budget.

He stressed the importance of financial control in the institution saying this played a key role in the promotion of good governance and the improvement of best practices based on transparency.

Courbin said over the past six years, ASECNA had succeeded in taking important steps to overcome the turbulence which had disturbed its effective functioning.

According to him, the setting up early this year of a commission to control security would enable the institution to improve the quality of its services and develop a true culture of security within the agency.

The new managing director of ASECNA, Amadou Ousmane Guitteye, said the gains and the quality of human resources must be strengthened to better fulfil the mission of the organization to serve its member States.
